We Need More Independent Artists (Wrt. by Jabulani Cindi)

This past weekend we saw Cassper Nyovest make history with the #FillUpFNBStadium campaign. As an entrepreneur in general, having a successful event of that magnitude is definitely 1 for the books.

As more and more artists choose the independent route to achieve there goals. International acts such as SKEPTA (London), Nipsey Hussle (Los Angeles) and our very own Cassper Nyovest (Johannesburg) are reaching levels higher then that of Artists signed to major labels. This is due to the fact that these above mentioned acts are not only amazing artist but great business men and are able to tap into their following and monetize it in real time. Where as major labels are unable to catch up with the ever advancing change in tech, music consumption and relevant merchandising necessary in today's business climate.

Today's business model, in simple terms, is make something for the people, with the people and make the people feel like their taking part in something larger then their mundane day to day lives and making sure they look good on Instagram while doing it. More entrepreneurs could learn a thing of 3 from these new age artists and not forgetting "iSensei yomswenko" himself Okmalumkoolkat (Durban)

who is making our local street culture more and more trendy everyday. By promoting local food culture, fashion and tourism for South Africa with his Boyznbucks imprint. A change is happening in South African business and entertainment, and it's about time these 2 entities joined forces to steer South Africa into a new direction, a better direction.
